User Guides

This website is built on the WordPress content management system (CMS) and as such the dashboard area should be familiar to many potential users. We hope that business networkers will find it dead easy to register as a user and use the site as a business networker. Both networking group and umbrella network administrators will have access to customised dashboard areas, based on core WordPress functionality, and setting up and administering groups and networks and adding networking events should be relatively intuitive for experienced WordPress users. We have, however, created short user guides to help familiarise users with how it all works.

How to register as a user and use the site as a business networker

If you register as a user on WottleDo Events you can create a short and simple public profile on the site which can be seen by any visitors to the site who are looking at postings of networking events which you have ticked as planning to attend. You can also manage which events you are attending, get informed about upcoming networking events for your favourite and other local networking groups and see how you are connected on LinkedIn with other registered users of the WottleDo Events website. The following user guide explains how to do all this in greater detail.

Setting up and administering a networking group or an umbrella network

If you want to manage a local networking group or an ‘umbrella network’ consisting of a number of local networking groups then read on to see how it works on WottleDo Events.

A quick overview:

*IMPORTANT: Please be aware that:

  • Every registered user is identified by the email address they have used to register.
  • Any one registered user can only EITHER (i) manage ONE local networking group OR (ii) manage ONE ‘umbrella network’ which has a number of local networking groups within it.
  • Local networking groups can either be stand-alone groups (ie not part of a wider umbrella network) or can be part of an umbrella network.

If you set up an umbrella network you can:

  • Manage that umbrella network yourself and create groups within your network for other people to maintain.
  • If you are a manager of an umbrella network you can:

  • Register any number of local networking groups under the umbrella of that umbrella network, and edit the details of each such local networking group.
  • Give other users permission to act as managers or additional managers of any one of those local networking groups.
  • You CAN manage any of those networking groups details, however you CANNOT add events to groups, each group admin will be able to add events for the particular group they assigned to, a network admin just has rights to create and edit group details and then assign other users to edit group details and setup events.
  • If you set up a standalone networking group you can:

  • Manage that networking group yourself.
  • You CANNOT give other users permission to act as additional managers of that networking group. If another user needs to be added you will need to contact a WottleDo admin
  • If you are the manager of a networking group (whether it is a standalone networking group or a networking group under an umbrella network) you can:

  • Edit the details of that group.
  • Create and manage details of networking events run by that group.
  • Setting up a new networking group or umbrella network

Once you have registered as a user of the site, you can start the process of registering either a new standalone networking group or a new umbrella network on the WottleDoEvents site by clicking on the ‘Register your Group or Network’ button. The following user guide explains how to do this in greater detail.
